Last month, I shared a post about The Breast Cancer Site, which allows each visitor to the website a click a day to raise money to provide free mammograms. Inspired by how EASY it was to click a button and know that I had done something good for a worthwhile cause, I created a new mission: to find other similar opportunities on the Internet. |
My GreaterGood.org adventure also led me to The Hunger Site. Did you know that 1 in 10 Americans faces a hunger crisis? With just a simple click on the site's homepage, you can help provide food to this struggling population. Last year, visitor clicks funded 52.8 million cups of food!
Geared to a younger audience (but accessible to all), I also discovered Dosomething.org, which offers an abundance of opportunities to make a positive difference with just a few clicks. Select an issue you are passionate about, how much time you have (from a few minutes to a few hours), and voila-- a selection of easy (and free) ways you can spread some joy. Want to make a birthday card for a homeless child? Want to send a thank you note to a park ranger? Want to sign a petition or even post a selfie to teach your friends about unjust deportation? This site offers a plethora of opportunities to do good.
Finally, for the activist, Care2.com is the self-appointed "world's largest community for good." Visit the homepage each day to sign a featured petition, click to show support for a cause or make a charitable donation.
I'm sure these sites only scratch the surface of the free click websites out there. Are you familiar with others?
COME ON, DISH! Are there other sites you visit that we can add to the list? What cause is most important to you? What good deeds have you performed lately? Take a moment here to humble brag!
