"Happiness depends upon ourselves." - Aristotle Let's face it: Aristotle knew his stuff. How often do we see the boomerang effect of a simple good deed? Happiness is easy to spread, but it starts within us-- and sometimes, between the stress of school, work or LIFE, it needs a little spark. Recently, in my search for online positivity, I came across a website called Happify. It's similar to Lumosity, but instead of exercises to train your brain in memory and attention, Happify is chock-full of activities to help you triumph over stress and negativity! |
Did you know there are FIVE basic skills that separate happy people from everyone else?
- Savoring the moment
- Thanking those who matter to you
- Aspire to meaningful goals
- Giving of yourself
- Empathizing with others
Happify explained to me that of people who use this site 3-4 times a week, 86% saw happiness improvements in just two months!
Did I mention the site is totally and completely FREE?
To begin, I selected one of many individual "happiness tracks." I decided my first happiness goal was to conquer negative thoughts.
And GET THIS! Happify walks you through ongoing activities to help reach your happiness goal. Not only that-- these activities all explain the science behind why the activity helps improve your happiness! My first activity was listing three things that made me smile today.
There is, of course, something to be said for thinking of what makes you thankful, of what makes you smile. And this activity, sure enough, noticeably boosted my mood!
Now, I leave you with an awesome and inspiring Kindness Boomerang video, showing the many ways in which a simple act of kindness can go a long way. Ready to join in? Check out Happify if you need a happiness boost to get you started!
And then, please report back! How are you spreading happiness today? I can't wait to hear!
