With a job in communications, much of my day is spent tracking news via social media and Internet sources. I love my line of work, but sometimes all the negative headlines really start to drag me down! Scroll through any aggregated news source and note the topics: murder, death, corruption, illness, threats, lawsuits and more. How depressing! From the moment I created this blog one year ago, I have been overwhelmed at the amount of kindness circulating the Internet. |
During this time that I was busy making friends online, I stumbled across a couple of studies suggesting the emotional dangers of the negativity-filled Internet-- and its impact on our health.
Teens who use the Internet pathologically may be about 2.5 times more likely to develop depression than teens who are not addicted to the Internet." (Source)
