Thanks to my research for an upcoming post on gratitude, I stumbled across an awesome resource with tips for developing a happier life: the Greater Good Science Center at UC Berkeley. A Greater Good CENTER? I had never heard of such a thing! According to the Center's website, "Since 2001, we have been at the fore of a new scientific movement to explore the roots of happy and compassionate individuals, strong social bonds, and altruistic behavior—the science of a meaningful life." This place promotes my belief that when you are happy, you are more likely to do good things for others-- and when you do good things for others, you are more likely to be happy! In other words... happiness is like karma: what you put into the world is what you get back from it! |
I'm absolutely loving all the positivity!
Don't get me wrong: the Center isn't all rainbows and unicorns. It also offers videos, posts and interactive features to help you cope with life's many challenges. Some that caught my attention were a post called "Six Skillful Ways to Deal with Disaster," a video on "Facing Difficulty with Gratitude," and a post about a new book, positing the question "Can Suffering Lead to Success?"
I hope this site inspires you to live positively, as much as it did me.
Now COME ON, DISH! Have you checked out the Greater Good Science Center's site? What did you find most helpful or inspiring? What other websites do you visit when you are looking for a pick me up? I'd love to hear!
